The museum is on the south bank of the River Arno at the bottom of the flight of steps to Piazzale Michelangelo, near the ancient city gate "Porta di San Niccolò".
Bus services 13, 23 and D run from the railway station Santa Maria Novella.
From the city centre on foot, cross the Ponte Vecchio and walk upstream along the River Arno for approximately 1 kilometre. From Piazzale Michelangelo, go down the flight of steps leading to Piazza Poggi and the museum is on the corner with Lungarno Serristori
