The Art Detective
Saturday 8 May and Sunday 9 May form ore 10 am to 5 oe: educational game for young boys and girls and their faiilies (the game is 1 hour long; it begins at each hour)

April 30 - Notte Bianca (White Night) at Casa Siviero
8-12 pm free entrance with guided tours
For the Notte Bianca (white night) in Florence, Casa Siviero will open from 8 to 12 pm. Guided tours will start at 8, 9, 10, 11 to see the museum and the exhibition:

Gift for the visitors of the museum during Valentine week end
On the 13 and 14 February, the visitors of the museum Casa Siviero will get a free postcard with a picture of a painting in the museum whose subject fits Valentine day

The exhibition will continue until 30 April, free entrance, Saturday 10 am-6pm; Sunday and Monday 10am-1pm
The exhibition features the restored self-portrait by Giorgio De Chirico, that belongs to the Siviero collection. Due to the oxidation of the paint, the portrait was barely visible. The restoration, though keeping the dark tones of the nocturnal colors, allows us once again to see the original image. According to Siviero's documents, De Chirico's self-portrait with column was a gift to him by Matilde Forti Castelfranco, the previous owner of the villa in the Lungarno Serristori, cur...

Columbus arms in legend and historical reality

The exhibition is opened until 6 January 2010 in the normal opening time of the museum.
According to an old legend, Cristopher Columbus, having come back from America, gave as a vow some arms to the image of Our Lady in the Church of Fontegiusta in Siena, that he worshipped. This tale has no historical ground, but the legendary arms of Columbus, kept in the museum of the Fraternity of Santa Maria in Portico a Fontegiusta, are an instance of the presence of small but important groups of arms in Tuscany.
