Drawing room of the mosaic

Siviero's bedroom adjoins, with a closed door, a drawing room dominated by a fireplace made of "recycled" ancient stone. The furnishings (table, sofa and armchairs), are in 18th century style. The chair and sofa upholstery in flame point are of special note. This is a traditional Florentine upholstery fabric, also called "punto Bargello" because many examples of the style of fabric are conserved in the collections of this museum.
On the right wall, a marble inlaid panel depicting Ila at the spring is of note. Despite an inscription on the rear certifying its authenticity, this is probably a reproduction commissioned to celebrate one of Siviero's significant finds: that of the opus sectile panels of the mithraic temple of Junius Bassus (4th century A.D.).
In the niche in the wall between the windows several interesting archaeological finds are displayed, amongst which a fragment of a tunic showing a horseman (7th century A.D.Coptic art) and a situla in silver plated ceramics (4th-3rd century B.C.).
