The Arms room

Following the length of the right-angled corridor, we reach a small room containing a large number of weapons. The rifles, decorated pistols and bladed weapons bear witness to different, and much befitting of a 007 of the art world, side to Siverio as a collector. On the surface of the beautiful Baroque Umbrian chest of drawers there are various antique ceramic fragments, including a fragmentary Faliscan (ancient Italian people of North Latium) pottery decorated with figures of a horse (7th century b.C.), and some Etruscan Kantharos and chalices. On the wall hangs a beautiful portrait of a woman by the American painter Charles Webster Hawthorne (1872-1930). We do not know why the collector was interested in this painter but it would be reasonable to suppose that, apart from the aesthetic merits, it was because of the close working relationship Siviero had built with the United States of America
